How to get to Nes Gard

Nes Gard has a location close to state highway 55, 34 km from Sogndal.

- E16 to Lærdal, state highway 5 and 55 to Nes Gard.

Through   Valdres valley and over the mountain pass Filefjell. Ferry from Fodnes to Manhiller. 390 km.

- E16 to Fagernes, state highway 51and 15 to Lom, state highway 55 to Nes Gard. Passing Valdres valley, the national park of Jotunheimen and the mountain passes Valdresflya and Sognefjell. Maybe the most scenic route, with fantastic scenery of the alpine peaks of Jotunheimen. 435 km

- E6 to Otta, state highway 15  and 55 to Nes Gard.    Passing Lillehammer, through Gudbrandsdalen   valley and over the mountain pass Sognefjell. 435 km.

Alternative routes from Bergen:

- E16 to Lærdal, state highway 5 and 55 to Nes Gard. Passing Voss, Flåm, Aurland and Lærdalstunnelen, the longest tunnel for cars in the world, 24 km.   Ferry from Fodnes to Manhiller. Don't miss the windy tourist route from Stalheim Hotel and the  picturesque village of Lærdal. 280 km.

An alternative to Lærdalstunnelen is the Aurland mountain pass to Lærdal. Great view!

- E16 to Gudvangen, ferry to Kaupanger, state highway 5 and 55 to Nes Gard. The ferry takes you through the narrow and famous Nærøyfjord, a great experience! 190 km + ferry 2 hours.

- E16 to Vinje, state highway 13, 5 and 55 to Nes Gard. Passing Voss, Vik and the mountain pass Vikafjellet. Ferry from Vangsnes to Hella. Don't miss the huge statue of the viking king Fridtjov at Vangsnes! 247 km
